Oldebroek siteSite description:
The Dutch VULCAN site “Oldebroek” (52°24’ N, 5°55’ E) is located at the Artillary Practice Ground (ASK) of the Dutch Army near the towns of ‘t Harde and Oldebroek. The site is part of a large heathland area called “Oldebroekse heide”. The heathland vegetation found here is dominated by Calluna vulgaris, Deschampsia flexuosa and Molinia caerulea with some scattered Betula pendula and Pinus sylvestris trees and bushes of Juniperus

Frames for the roofsCalluna vulgaris plantsThe plots are mainly covered with Calluna vulgaris plants of a maximum height of 75 cm. The heathland is managed by regular sod-cutting to prevent grass encroachment. The soil is a well drained, sandy to loamy sand podzol, with a groundwater class of VII. The site is located at an elevation of 25 meter above sea level and is almost flat.
